I regularly feel superb about volunteering with local organizations that help out those less blessed.
One of the locales that I help out is a local food pantry.
In many cases these types of facilities rely on churches in addition to town halls for their space as funds are limited in addition to they need discounted rent! I understand this because they rely on donations of food in addition to currency to keep them up in addition to running. The pantry where I volunteer certainly needs to reconsider the space that they use. It is taxing to access by those who have any sort of physical limitations due to the staircases in addition to worst of all we have to repair people out of a small room that has no ventilation, and the room is no larger than a walk-in closet, has no windows in addition to only one means of escape should the need arise. I don’t even know that it is up to code as far as safety is concerned. It is located in the basement of a church in addition to I feel they feel that it is what they could afford so they just make do! During the Summer months it can get so stuffy in there that the two hours seem to drag by. My pal and I brought in a small fan to help circulate the air however it just isn’t enough. I wish there was a way to install some sort of ventilation system that could draw out the stale air in addition to upgrade it with new, but perhaps they should speak with the church council in addition to see if there is another room that is linked to the Heating in addition to Air Conditioning system that we could use. It would certainly help the people coming to get food in addition to the volunteers feel better.
