The coolness of a cave

The coolness of a cave

While vacationing in the southwest my pal and I came across a actually cool hotel.

  • My great friend and I typically try to find accommodations that are off the beaten path or a bit unusual than the big hotel chains.

My great friend and I found an older hotel that was located along the desert mountain range & part of it was actually built into the side of the mountain. The rooms in that section did not have any windows & you could actually see the rock face wall on one side of the room. I found it odd to see that there was an air vent with a good over it located on that wall. My first thought was why they would have that there when there was no window to let any fresh air in but obviously in between the glass & the wall there was a constant breeze from the caves themselves. The pressure came from natural air tubes that were located throughout the space & it actually felt like having natural a/c piped into the room. My great friend and I asked the clerk what they did during the winter season but they indicated that the air temperature was the same no matter what time of year & it actually worked well to accommodate their guests. They do say that in the event of actually chilly uneven temperatures, which don’t happen often in that area, they utilized space boilers to keep the rooms a bit warmer. Most of the gas that stayed with them we’re looking for a more natural experience rather than a basic hotel room that had heat & a/c anyway so they appreciated the difference. This location would never rank as a five-star hotel but it actually added to our vacation experience & my pal and I will never forget that identifiable site.
